僕は、瀬戸内海に面したこの港町で育ちました。これといって、なにも自慢できるものなど無い、ごくありふれた港町です。そんな町にあるフェリー乗り場の待合室に、「なんだかわからないけど、やたらカッコイイのが飾ってあったなぁ」って、旅人の記憶の断片に残るような、そんなモノを作ってみたいと思いました。そんなことを考えているうちに思いついたのが絵葉書でした。
僕にとって、旅先から友人、知人に送る絵葉書は、旅の記録でもあり、また旅先から届く絵葉書は、なによりのお土産です。いろんな人、そしていろんな所から届いた、または届けたいと思う絵葉書を想像しながら画面一杯に貼付けました。

I grew up here in this Seto inland seaside town. I cannot think of anything to be boastful about it, it is a simple seaside town. My ambition was to create a piece of art that hangs on a wall of ferry port’s waiting room, leaving visitors with reminiscent feelings: “I cannot recall that well, but there was some awesome art on display there”.
It was such thought that had led me to the idea of postcards.
For me, postcards I send to my friends whilst on trips are my travel records, and cards I receive are the best souvenir. I imagined cards posted by many people from various destinations, and those cards yet to be posted, and expressed them on the canvas.
