タイトルにある「KESHIKI」とは、単に風景を指す言葉ではなく、陶磁器にみられる窯変による「景色（気色）」という言葉に由来します。パネルに石膏や絵具をのせ、それを削ったり、磨いたり、焼いたり、塗ったり、また削ったり・・・という作業を何度も繰り返すうちに、このような独特な表面へとたどり着きます。画面上に偶然現れた無骨で繊細なマチエールは、茶碗の見所のように「KESHIKI」として現れ、それは観る人に何かの情景を思い起こさせる「モノ」として機能します。風景や情景、あるいは何かのイメージを画面上の「KESHIKI」と重ね合わせながら鑑賞して頂ければ幸いです。

“KESHIKI” which is written in the title, does not describe the scenery, which holds the usual meaning. It means the looks and the feeling you can get from observing the deformation of the pottery. This unique surface is only achieved, when a certain task is repeated; by placing a gypsum and paint on the panel and scraping, rubbing, burning, painting, and scraping it again. This delicate yet rough Matiere appears as “KESHIKI” just like a rice bowl, and functions as “Mono”, depending on how people recall their view. This piece can be greatly appreciated, if you could superimpose the “KESHISKI” of any kind of image, and scenery or sight.
