「円こそは完全な形である」と言ったのは誰だったか…その円を増殖させ反転させることに、今ちょっとハマっている。白と黒のエッチングを使って花のモチーフを円で囲い込み、繰り返していくと月の形になった。
「月」を調べてみると英語では７種類、日本語では１４種類の表現があるらしい。上弦の月と下弦の月はどちらもhalf moon、十六夜や寝待月などは英語ナシ、である。絵のタイトルを日本語にしようか、ちょっと迷っている。

Who said “A circle is the perfect shape”? My current obsession is to multiply and reverse the said circles. Using white and black etchings, I circled a flower-motif with circles. By repeating it, a shape of moon emerged.
If you look up the word “Moon”, you will find 7 different expressions in English, 14 in Japanese.
First quarter moon and last quarter moon can also be called half moon, and there are no English words for “Izayoi” (moon on the 16th day of the cycle) and “Nemachizuki” (19th day of the cycle). I haven’t decided whether to name my art piece in Japanese or English.
